You say it
Tell what happened, how it affected you, and what you want people to understand. You do not have to write like a lawyer or prove a legal case.
Rogue Valley Renters Voices · Jackson County, Oregon
RVRV publishes Rogue Valley renters' stories in their own words. It exists so people who felt ignored can say what happened and know that someone will read it.
When renters deal with a landlord, a court, or a housing agency, the paperwork records notices, claims, decisions, and deadlines. It does not record everything the renter lived through.
It may not show what happened before a notice arrived, what a family tried to do, what was said but never written down, or how the outcome affected their home, health, work, or children. RVRV preserves that missing human part by publishing the renter's own account.
RVRV is not a law firm, court, complaint agency, or housing assistance program. It does not investigate claims, decide who is legally right, or promise that sharing a story will change an outcome. It gives renters a place to speak and readers a place to listen. If you need practical or legal assistance, start with Get Help.
How this works
This is the promise RVRV makes to every renter who shares a story.
Tell what happened, how it affected you, and what you want people to understand. You do not have to write like a lawyer or prove a legal case.
RVRV may correct an obvious typo, but it will not rewrite your story, soften what you say, or change what you mean.
Your story is published without comments or arguments beneath it. A reader's role is simple: listen to what you experienced.
Why I built RVRV
My family rented from Pacific Rental Properties for about eight years. In mediation, we agreed to leave our Highland Drive apartment. At that time, the agreement entered no judgment of restitution and made no finding that we had violated the lease.
An eviction judgment was later entered under that agreement. The Housing Authority of Jackson County treated it as an eviction for a serious or repeated lease violation. It terminated our voucher and barred every adult in our household from assistance for three years.
The documents recorded those decisions. They did not show the full chain of events or what the outcome did to a grandmother and a four-year-old. I built RVRV because renters need somewhere to preserve the part that official records leave out.
This site is for renters
If you rented in the Rogue Valley and felt ignored, dismissed, or reduced to paperwork, you can tell people what happened. Sharing your story may not bring a legal remedy. It will make sure your experience does not exist only in someone else's version of events.
